Listamaður Grafíkvina 2022 er Marilyn Herdís Mellk og mun hún sýna úrval af grafíkverkum unnin frá 1987 og fram til dagsins í dag 4. febrúar frá kl. 18-20 og 5. og 6. frá kl.14-17 í sal félagsins á Vetrarhátíð.
“Á gönguferðum með hundunum mínum fell ég oft í stafi yfir hinni ómótstæðilegu fegurð birtunnar. Á þessum stundum staldra ég við og reyni að festa á filmu augnablikið, áferð og andstæður til að vinna áfram með á vinnustofunni minni. Verkið „Birtuskil“ var unnið undir áhrifum gönguferðar fyrir ofan Rauðavatn. Það var einmitt á einum þessara daga þegar birtan var eins og annars heims og friðsældin ríkti.” MHM
Marilyn Herdís, fædd 1961 er af íslensku bergi brotin og hefur búið og starfað í Reykjavík síðan 1981. Hún stundaði listnám við California College of the Arts og Myndlista og Handíðaskóla Íslands, nú LHÍ, þaðan sem hún útskrifaðist 1987 úr grafíkdeild. Marilyn hefur haldið einkasýningar og tekið þátt í fjölmörgum samsýningum bæði hérlendis og erlendis. Marilyn Herdís Mellk is this year’s artist for the “Grafíkvinir” which will be exhibited alongside her work at Íslensk grafík Friday, February 4th from 6-8 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 pm.
“Often when walking my dogs, the light is so mesmerizing that I have to stop to take in the fleeting beauty of it all. I snap a few pictures to try and catch the moment, contrasts and textures to work on in my studio at a later date. “Contrast ” was inspired after a walk on the trails behind Rauðavatn. It was one of those days when the light was otherworldly and peaceful.” MHM
Marilyn Herdís is an Icelandic/ American, born in 1961 and has been living and working in Iceland since 1981. After studying art at the California College of Arts and Crafts, she continued her studies at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts where she graduated in 1987 from the printmaking department.
