Félagið íslensk grafík kynnir Technology and Touch (Tækni og snerting) í Grafíksalnum, Tryggvagötu 17, hafnarmegin. Sýnendur koma frá Íslandi og San Francisco en sýningin hefur áður verið sýnd í San Francisco og Las Vegas.
„Tækni og snerting“ er titill á samvinnuverkefni grafíklistamanna í Reykjavík og í San Francisco á sviði grafíklistar. Markmið og þema verkefnisins er að rannsaka og sýna nýsköpun í aðferðum sem tengjast hefðbundnum tæknilegum útfærslum í grafíklist og unnið er með á tveimur landfræðilegum stöðum. Á báðum stöðum nýta listamennirnir ýmsar óhefðbundnar leiðir í vinnuferlinu, t.d. tilraunaljósmyndatækni og skurð í plötur með laser tækni eða fræsurum, til að ná fram dýpri persónulegri merkingu í verkum sínum í tengslum við náttúru og umhverfi.
Þeir 5 listamenn sem valdir voru til þátttöku af erlendu sýningarstjórunum eru Elvar Örn Kjartansson, Gréta Mjöll Bjarnadóttir, Laura Valentino, Soffía Sæmundsdóttir og Valgerður Hauksdóttir. Synendur frá Kaliforníu eru Carrie Ann Plank, Robynn Smith, Jimin Lee, Michelle Morillo, and Monica Farrar Miller.
Technology and Touch – Printmaking from San Francisco and Reykjavík

The Icelandic Printmakers Association presents Technology and Touch at IPA Gallery, Tryggvagata 17, entrance harbor side. This is the 3rd and final showing of the exhibition, which has already traveled to San Francisco and Las Vegas.
Technology and Touch is a collaboration between fine art printmakers in Reykjavik and the San Francisco Bay area. The theme is intended to showcase current innovations in printmaking used in tandem with traditional techniques in the two geographic areas. In both locales, artists are using everything from experimental photographic techniques to angle grinders and laser cutters, to create personal visions that express their deep connection to the natural world. By showing the works of both Icelandic and American printmakers together, Technology and Touch seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the cultural similarities of the two cities, and create opportunities for dialog.
Five artists from Iceland were chosen by the curators to take part in the project: Elvar Örn Kjartansson, Gréta Mjöll Bjarnadóttir, Laura Valentino, Soffía Sæmundsdóttir og Valgerður Hauksdóttir.
