Tryggvi Thórhallsson IPA Gallery 22.06.2013 – 14.07.2013
The current works follow up on Tryggvi´s show last year which focused on Icelandic landscapes.
Exhibited now are works also drawn from nature, where strands of light play on land and sky creating harmonies and dissonances. This interplay is a classic subject, but each place is unique in its own right and the works underpin that the experience of the moment indeed seldom repeats itself under ever-changing Nordic skies.
Tryggvi mainly works with watercolours, but the draughtsman is never far off supplementing the motives with various nuances and creating layers of luminosity, atmosphere and barometry. Tryggvi also dissects various place-names in search of the core inherent in the words we use to describe our
surroundings. The outcome is a journey of topography and toponymy.
The IPA-gallery is open Thursday through Sunday from 14:00 to 18:00. Free entry.
