Á þessari sýningu mætast María Sjöfn og Sabine og flétta saman hugðarefnum sínum. Hér eru þær að fjalla um skóginn og sjóinn og hvernig við skynjum og upplifum þessi fyrirbæri út frá okkar eigin reynslu og þekkingu. Ofnýting skóga og sjávar af mannavöldum er vel þekkt. Með vísan til þessa er verið að kortleggja einskonar innra landslag skynjunar á hinu ytra landslagi. Marglaga myndmálið sem skapast í ferlinu getur mögulega velt upp nýjum sjónarhornum á þeim loftslagsbreytingum sem við erum að upplifa.

María Sjöfn
María Sjöfn vinnur í mismunandi miðla og oft með náttúruleg fyrirbæri og skoðar samband manns og umhverfis sem taka á sig mynd sem innsetningar, í þrívíð form sem skúlptúrar, video-innsetningar og teikningu.Í verkum sínum fjallar hún um fjölþætta skynjun umhverfisins með innsýn í innra og ytra samhengi rýmis og efnis. Hún er að kanna snertifleti manns og náttúru á gagnrýninn hátt í marglaga þekkingarsköpun og skoðar myndmálið sem á stundum veitir ný sjónarhorn. Hún lauk M.A. gráðu frá Myndlistardeild Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2020 og M.A. diplóma gráðu í listkennslufræðum árið 2014 frá sama skóla.
Sabine A. Fischer
Í verkum sínum vinnur Sabine A. Fischer í ferli í endurheimt að ummerkjum upprunans. Hún endurskapar efni og viðfangsefni sem hafa orðið ósýnileg og gleymd vegna verðmætakerfa og hraða lífsins yfir á myndmál sem reynir að endurheimta sambandið við náttúruna og núið. Hún reynir stöðugt að ögra raunveruleikaskyninu með því að kanna mörkin milli veruleika og skáldskapar til að endurheimta nýja reynslu og upplifun.Verk hennar byggja á tilraunakenndri og leiðandi nálgun þar sem hún sameinar eigin reynslu, spurningar og hugsanir við viðfangsefnin. Verk hennar taka á sig mynd sem skúlptúrar, innsetningar, uppákomur, inngrip, þrykk, hljóð- og videoverk. Sabine er með MfA frá Listaháskóla Íslands (2020), framhaldsgráðu í listkennslu (2019) og diplómagráðu í myndlist (2012) frá Myndlistarakademíunni í Leipzig (Þýskalandi) og B.A. í nútíma- og samtímasögu frá Tækniháskólanum í Karlsruhe (Þýskalandi). The forest and the sea embody the longing for merely being present with the senses. The forest and the sea however, are also subject to human exploitation. The sensual and the humanly constructed attempt to coexist in these artworks in order to uphold the idea of a resolution to the human/nature dilemma.

María Sjöfn
María Sjöfn’s artistic practice explores forms of natural phenomena and the nature of relationships between human and non human life. Her works often take the shape of installations, sculptural interventions, video, and drawing. Her working process begins with experimentation focusing on multifaceted perceptions of the environment, and in particular the inner and outer contexts of space and matter. She critically investigates the layered relations of the human being with its environment. When those layers are examined in a new context, visual language can create a new perspective on the matter.María Sjöfn holds a M.A. in Fine Art from the Iceland University of the Arts (2020) and an M.A.dipl. in Art Education (2014) from Iceland University of the Arts.Website: http://mariasjofn.net@mariasjofn
Sabine A. Fischer
With her artworks, Sabine A. Fischer pursues a process of restoring traces of origins. She translates materials and subjects that have become invisible and forgotten due to value systems and the fast pace of life into a visual language that attempts to restore the relationship to nature and the present. She constantly tries to challenge the perception of reality by exploring the boundary between reality and fiction in order to recover a new experience from there.Sabine creates works based on an experimental and intuitive approach, combining her own experiences, questions and thoughts with the materials. Her works emerge as sculptures, installations, happenings, interventions, prints, sound and video works. Sabine holds an MfA from the Iceland University of the Arts (2020), a postgraduate degree in Art Education (2019) and a Diploma in Fine Arts (2012) from the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig (Germany) and a B.A. in Modern and Contemporary History from the Technical University of Karlsruhe (Germany).
